Predicted Juventus lineup vs Napoli: Juve tests their best midfield against Napoli
By John Vaccaro
CM: Adrien Rabiot
I don’t know if Maurizio Sarri has given up on Blaise Matuidi like I have, but he’d have to be blind not to see how much more productive this squad has been without Matuidi in the past couple of weeks. Their attack has looked far more dangerous with Adrien Rabiot taking Matuidi’s place and I believe he should be the obvious choice to start in this position for the rest of the season. It took longer than I expected, but I believe Rabiot is finally ready to take on the role Juve expected when they signed him.
CM: Miralem Pjanic
It’s amazing what can happen when Juve gives Miralem Pjanic some help. We had been promised when Sarri joined this club that Pjanic would be a focal point of the squad and he would be an integral part of turning this into a Sarriball team. We finally got to see what that looks like on Wednesday. The passing was more fluid than we had seen most of the season and Roma had no answer for the Juve attack in the first half of the match. There are still things to work out and the new Juve midfield will need to build some chemistry, but I’m glad we’re finally seeing Pjanic at his best.
CM: Rodrigo Bentancur
We haven’t seen Rodrigo Bentancur in a Serie A match since the end of 2019, but he should take this starting job right back now that his suspension is over. He did start 2 Coppa Italia matches during that suspension and played very well in both. He has become a key piece to this midfield and the combination of him, Rabiot, and Pjanic is clearly the best midfield that Juve has to offer. I look forward to seeing what he can do in this role over the second half of the season.
