Real Madrid are defensively rigid

Real Madrid’s defensive organisation is better than ever this season and the Whites have conceded just 13 times this season in La Liga. Thibaut Courtois has kept 11 clean sheets and will have all the motivation in the world to beat his former side, whereas Ferland Mendy starting over Marcelo once more will give Zidane much-needed stability at the back.

Atletico Madrid will be without the pacey Joao Felix and experienced Diego Costa, meaning that Vitolo and Alvaro Morata will lead their attack. The Spaniards definitely have quality but would need a lot to get past Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane who are in top form. Nobody had thought that Real Madrid’s defence would be so well-organised a few months back, but that’s the case now and it is getting them some absolutely crucial points.

The Bernabeu will have to do its thing

The backing of the Santiago Bernabeu will be absolutely vital for this Real Madrid side, who stands its best opportunity to defeat Diego Simeone at home for the first time since 2012/13 in La Liga. The Atletico Madrid boss has managed to get results on the Whites’ patch with a very harsh defence on most occasions, but this time it is a rather inexperienced side.

Zinedine Zidane’s men are unbeaten in their own backyard in all competitions across this season and would be looking to take full advantage of Atletico’s lacklustre away record. Simeone’s men have managed to win just three out of their ten away league outings, losing twice with a goal difference of zero in this statistic.
