RWB: Diogo Dalot 4/10

Given a chance ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Dalot did very little to show Ole Gunnar Solskjær why he’d deserved it.

The 20-year-old was often extremely sloppy in possession, and did very little going forward apart from a couple of decent crosses. He was eventually taken off for Bruno Fernandes in the second half.

CB: Victor Lindelof 5/10

Lindelof didn’t have much to do defensively, with most of Brugge’s attacks coming down the middle or on the left. He often tried to start attacks from the back, but wasn’t helped by United’s ineffective midfielders.

Bailly’s impressive performance against Chelsea means that Lindelof will now have to be at his very best, and it’ll be a welcome selection problem for Solskjær.

CB: Harry Maguire 6/10

Even though he looked a bit uncomfortable at times, Maguire did really well to keep Brugge’s counter-attacks from developing. He also handled the pacy and physical Bonaventure and stopped him from extending the Belgian side’s lead.

The 26-year-old also continued to bring the ball out from the back effectively, and even ended up on the left wing at one point.

CB: Luke Shaw 8/10

Luke Shaw continued his resurgence with another solid display as a third center-back. He made virtually no mistakes throughout the 90 minutes, often covering for Brandon Williams on the left flank.

Shaw was also often much more effective than Dalot and Williams going forward, in spite of playing in a deeper role. With Bailly returning and Williams losing form, the 24-year-old might soon return to his favored left-back spot.

LWB: Brandon Williams 4/10

Williams struggled to gain a foothold in the match, with Brugge launching most of their attacks through his flank. He struggled to hold the ball in the first half, but improved slightly in the second 45.

Shaw’s form means that the 19-year-old might be benched by Solskjær for a while, and it might help the youngster clear his head.
