CM: Rodrigo Bentancur

I’ve been seeing some Rodrigo Bentancur slander thrown around on Twitter lately, but I think that is completely misguided.

He is the only midfielder who has actually performed well this season in spite of the fact that he has been asked to play 4 different roles throughout the year.

In the new configuration of this midfield, I believe he actually gets to take on the role he is best in, which is the more defensive role Blaise Matuidi had previously occupied.

Bentancur deserves the chance to finally return to his best role and I think he will help boost Juve’s performance in it. I’m just hoping Sarri gets this one right on Wednesday.

CM: Miralem Pjanic

This season has presented more challenges for Juventus than they’re used to and that’s due in large part to their midfield.

The most disappointing part of that midfield has been Miralem Pjanic. It has been a while since we have seen him at his best and that has become especially hard to deal with this season.

We were supposed to see more out of him this season with Maurizio Sarri at the helm, but the coaching change hasn’t seemed to change anything for Pjanic.

Juve needs him to control this match, but it’s hard to know if that’s something they can count on. Hopefully, he shows us something new on Wednesday.

CM: Aaron Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey has finally been returned to the role that he is best in and Maurizio Sarri should be trying to give him as much time in it as possible. We saw the difference he can make when the attack switched on after he was subbed into the match against Lyon.

This squad lacks attacking flair and he at least provides some. This shouldn’t be a difficult call to make, but I still feel like I’ll be worried about Sarri getting it wrong on Wednesday.
