The young, Dutch defender has somewhat flown under the radar in his time as Liverpool thus far. The 18 year has featured just 4 times for Liverpool making 2 appearances in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, respectively.

So, what can we expect from young right back? Well, what we’ve seen is that he’s fast, agile, has raw strength and knows how to use it in order to place himself effectively between the opponent and the ball.

So we can rest assured that he has the necessary physical attributes to develop into a suitable backup right-back to Trent Alexander Arnold. His technical abilities show a great deal of promise, too.

It’s important that a fast full-back knows how to utilise a good first touch to keep control of the ball and to not immediately place himself and his defence on the back-foot.

In parallel, he shows good defensive awareness as we’ve seen him step up to attack an attempted ball over-the-top from the opposition, to which Hoever has calmly attacked the ball to head it away.

Overall he shows the hallmarks of a youngster who’s been paying a close eye to study the likes of his teammates, emulating Trent Alexander Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk.

Hopefully, he’ll prove to be just as important to Liverpool as his mentors are in the years to follow.
