Newcastle strengthen attack with Bournemouth’s Wilson and Fraser
By Quinn Allen
Newcastle has secured the signatures of Wilson and Fraser from Bournemouth.
With the transfer window coming to a close, Newcastle has added two huge pieces to their squad ahead of the brand new Premier League campaign, which gets started this weekend. The Magpies were on the verge of being purchased by a Saudi Arabian investment group this summer, but the deal fell through, leaving Mike Ashley still in charge of the club.
However, they will be feeling very optimistic about their upcoming season after signing Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser from Bournemouth who are two proven attackers.
Wilson spent six years on the South Coast before making a 20 million switch to Tyneside over the weekend after the Cherries were relegated to the Sky Bet Championship in August. 2018/19 was the Englishman’s best season at Vitality Stadium, bagging 14 goals and tallying nine assists for Eddie Howe’s side, which earned him a call-up to the Three Lions.

Fraser became a free agent this summer after seven years with Bournemouth and completed a medical on Monday and is set to join his former Cherries compatriot this week on a five-year deal.
He was being heavily linked with Arsenal for quite some time, but the Magpies were able to beat out the North Londoners for his signature. The Scot also enjoyed a solid campaign in 2018/19, netting seven times and collecting an impressive 14 assists.
This past season was a rough one for both of these players for a struggling Cherries side who looked helpless. However, they’ve proved in the past to have great chemistry with one another. Wilson is a natural goal-scorer and has tremendous presence in the final third, while Fraser brings tons of pace on either flank, but is usually deployed out on the left despite being primarily right-footed.
Although he’s small, Fraser is well-grounded and strong on the ball. He’s also a wonderful playmaker who has a special eye for a pass. This duo will add to an already vibrant attack consisting of Miguel Almiron, Joelinton, and Allan Saint-Maximin, among others.
The Magpies are also on the verge of signing Norwich left-back Jamal Lewis, who withdrew from Northern Ireland’s Nations League match against Norway in order to secure his move to St. James Park on a 15 million deal.
Newcastle finished in 15th place in England’s top flight last term, scoring just 38 goals in as many matches. Without a doubt, Wilson and Fraser will help this club find the back of the net a lot more this season.
