Chelsea determined to stay top of WSL

Chelsea has been crowned WSL champions for four years running. They’re also led by the Australian star with a magic boot, Sam Kerr. Not to mention the English national team talent Chelsea has generously spread across the field.

So management sat down and thought, you know what we need? More star power. Just so other teams step on the field and forget they ever thought they had a chance.

The latest infusion of talent hails from the US in the form of the comically named dynamic duo “Catfish,” better known as Catarina Macario and Mia Fishel.

The USWNT is ushering in a new wave of crafty, clever, speedy youngsters, and through their own unique paths, Catarina Macario and Mia Fishel have been granted admission to the big leagues both for their nation and at club level.

Now the two American forwards will face a blustery London fall together with an exciting new team – and hopefully a couple of well-insulated parkas to help them power through.

As an indisputably dominant college standout, Catarina Macario was courted by Lyon, one of the shiniest diamonds in the club landscape. A Champions League trophy later, she is no stranger to being among the best of the best. But as she continues to recover from an ACL tear that cost her a place at this summer’s World Cup, she’s surrounded by friends and a supportive staff at Chelsea that are invested in her long-term future.

Mia Fishel also found herself wanting to venture beyond the safe familiarity of the NWSL and found a home at Tigres in Mexico where she joined a skillful group led by an abundance of Mexican national team talent. Fishel finally earned her first senior national team cap this month and appears to be on the right trajectory to making herself a regular at camp.

Macario and Fishel are formidable individuals, but with the talent alongside them at Chelsea feeding them delicious passes and helping them craft goal-scoring opportunities, they’re sure to dazzle.

Though we’ll have to be patient for Macario’s debut, Fishel will be available for Chelsea’s season opener on Sunday against Tottenham. May the crowd be ready for the Big Fish energy they’re about to receive.
