Belgium have won each of their last four meetings with Kazakhstan, scoring 11 goals and conceding only one, most recently beating them 3-0 in Brussels and 2-0 in Astana six years ago.

Belgium vs Kazakhstan preview

After enjoying a very comfortable victory on Thursday night, are Belgium set for another? In mid-week, the Red Devils demolished minnows Liechtenstein 6-0 at Rheinpark Stadion. Maxim De Cuyper broke the deadlock, before the floodgates opened after the interval, with Youri Tielemans bagging a brace, while Arthur Theate, Kevin De Bruyne and youngster Malick Fofana were also on target.

This continues Rudi Garcia's team's unbeaten start to qualifying, held to a 1-1 draw by North Macedonia in Skopje in their opener, before a thrilling 4-3 victory over Wales at Stade Roi Baudouin, also in June. Belgium are aiming to reach a seventh successive major tournament, having been imperious in qualifying during this period, winning 37 of their last 43 qualifiers, their most recent defeat coming in Cardiff in June 2015. Well, they will return to Cardiff next month for, what is likely to be, a group decider, poised to add three points to their tally at Stade Constant Vanden Stock first.

As for Kazakhstan, they've won just once in Group J, beating Liechtenstein 2-0 in Vaduz in March, losing their other three fixtures. On Thursday, Ali Aliyev was left very frustrated by his team's 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Wales, given that his side thwacked the Astana Arena crossbar on two occasions, including from a Serıkjan Mūjyqov free-kick, which was the final kick of the night.

The Hawks have improved in recent years, reaching the Euro 2024 play-offs, but still do not travel very well. Away from home, Kazakhstan have lost 35 of their last 51 competitive away matches, winning only nine, these road victories coming in Liechtenstein, Finland, Northern Ireland, San Marino, Slovakia, Moldova, Lithuania and Latvia, not the most eclectic list. Thus, it would require an enormous shock for them to leave Brussels with anything to show for their efforts on Sunday night.

20 year old Malick Fofana marked his first senior international start with a goal, thereby set to keep his place out-wide, chosen over Leandro Trossard. Amadou Onana and record-scorer Romelu Lukaku are both sidelined, so Loïs Openda will continue to deputise for the latter.

Belgium predicted lineup vs Kazakhstan: (4-3-3): Courtois; Meunier, Debast, Theate, De Cuyper; Tielemans, Vanakan, De Bruyne; Doku, Openda, Fofana.

Kevin De Bruyne lashed home his 32nd Belgium goal on Thursday, now just one behind Eden Hazard's tally, so will Napoli's summer signing be on target at Stade Constant Vanden Stock?

As a result, 30 year old Ular Zhaksybaev is set to come into defence, earning only his third cap, alongside star defender Nūraly Älıp as part of a back five.

Kazakhstan predicted lineup vs Belgium: (5-4-1): Seysen; Kairov, Zhaksybaev, Älıp, Kasym, Vorogovsky; Mūjyqov, Orazov, Kenzhebek, Samorodov; Satpayev.

Kazakhstan player to watch vs Belgium

17 year old striker Dastan Satpayev has already agreed to join Chelsea next summer for €4 million. This summer, he fired Kairat through four rounds of Champions League qualifying and into the league phase for the very first time, so could he bag his first ever international goal here?

Belgium vs Kazakhstan prediction

As already mentioned, we're backing Belgium to cruise to victory on Sunday, thereby joining Wales on ten points, ahead of the pair's crucial head-to-head next month: Belgium 4-0 Kazakhstan.
