Senegal have never previously lost to Brazil, the pair playing out a 1-1 draw in Singapore in 2019, before the Lions of Téranga beat the Seleção 4-2 at Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon in 2023.

In fact, of all 88 different national teams Brazil have ever faced, they have only never beaten Senegal and Norway.

Brazil vs Senegal preview

After a mixed October double-header, will Brazil flex their muscles in this friendly in North London? Last month, Carlo Ancelotti's team sent out a statement by steamrollering Korea Republic 5-0 in Seoul; Estêvão Willian and Rodrygo both bagging braces, while Vinícius Júnior was also on target. Three days later, a heavily rotated Seleção side then raced into a 2-0 lead against Japan, with Paulo Henrique and then Gabriel Martinelli the scorers. However, they then completely collapse in Tokyo, conceding three times in 19 minutes, thereby suffering an embarrassing defeat.

Considering it came in a friendly, this result essentially does not matter, but every performance is under the microscope, due to how little time Ancelotti will have to prepare for the World Cup. Here, Brazil will return to Emirates Stadium for the first time since November 2018. The Seleção have only ever lost one of eight matches at Arsenal's home since their first in 2007, enjoying victories over Argentina, Sweden, Italy, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Chile and Uruguay to date. So, will those in attendance in North London be getting into the samba spirit on Saturday afternoon?

Senegal though, as already documented, have never lost to Brazil, so will be determined to preserve this record. Last month, the Lions of Téranga rubber stamped their World Cup spot, demolishing South Sudan 5-0 and Mauritania 4-0, thereby ending qualification unbeaten.

This is therefore the start of a big six months or so for Pape Thiaw's side, considering his team will be in Morocco for the Africa Cup of Nations that kicks off next month. They will take on Botswana, DR Congo and Benin in Ṭangier, not only favourites to top Group D but among the front-runners to go all the way. Then, at the World Cup itself, the Lions of Téranga will believe they can match or possibly even better their run to the round of 16 in Qatar.

Senegal have already enjoyed a visit to the UK this year. Back in June, goals from Ismaïla Sarr, Habib Diarra and then Cheikh Sabaly saw them beat England 3-1 at the City Ground, one of their most famous victories of all-time. So now, can the 2022 AFCON champions shock Brazil in London?

Brazil team news

Carlo Ancelotti is in London without Alisson, Raphinha and Gabriel Martinelli due to injury, while André, João Gomes, Joelinton, Savinho, Igor Jesus and Neymar are among those not called up.

Fabinho, now of Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League of course, has though been recalled, hoping to earn a first national team cap since the World Cup three years ago.

The home crowd will be pleased to see Arsenal's Gabriel in action, while numerous other Premier League-based players could feature, including Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães, Lucas Paquetá, João Pedro, Richarlison, Matheus Cunha and Estêvão Willian, the Chelsea teenager having scored three in his last four for the Seleção.

Brazil predicted lineup vs Senegal: (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Wesley, Militão, Gabriel, Caio Henrique; Casemiro, Guimarães, Estêvão, Rodrygo, Vinícius; Cunha.

Brazil player to watch vs Senegal

Vinícius Júnior has only ever scored eight international goals in 43 caps, albeit he has found the target against Colombia, Paraguay and Korea Republic in 2025 so far, so can he add to his tally in North London?

Senegal team news

Pape Thiaw is without Sunderland midfielder Habib Diarra due to injury while former Brighton and Rangers forward Abdallah Sima has not been called up.

Idrissa Gana Gueye will win a record-extending 120th cap, while El Hadji Malick Diouf, Pape Matar Sarr, Ismaïla Sarr and Iliman Ndiaye also currently ply their trade in the Premier League.

Nicolas Jackson, now of Bayern Munich, is likely to lead the line; PSG teenager Ibrahim Mbaye could make his senior international debut, having switched his allegiance from France this week.

Senegal predicted lineup vs Brazil: (4-3-3): É Mendy; A Mendy, Koulibaly, Niakhaté, Diouf; Gana Gueye, Pape Gueye, Matar Sarr; Sarr, Ndiaye, Jackson.

Senegal player to watch vs Brazil

Sadio Mané is Senegal's all-time record goalscorer, taking his tally to 48 by bagging a brace against Mauritania in Diamniadio last time out. However, the presence of Sarr, Jackson and Ndiaye means the 33 year old is no longer a guaranteed starter, so can he impress his manager, returning to the stadium at which he scored on his Liverpool debut in 2016?

Brazil vs Senegal prediction

Brazil may have never beaten Senegal before, but we're backing them to change that fact in North London, albeit it won't be straight forward, given that both squads are stacked: Brazil 3-1 Senegal.
