Arsenal are unbeaten in seven meetings with Chelsea, winning five of them, with the Blues claiming victory from only one of 12 encounters with the Gunners since the start of 2020.
Arsenal are also unbeaten in six visits to Stamford Bridge, dating back to the very start of Unai Emery's reign, despite having lost eight of there previous ten Premier League outings there immediately beforehand.
Chelsea vs Arsenal preview
After both enjoyed noteworthy Champions League victories in mid-week, these two fierce London rivals begin the Premier League weekend as the top two, but who will claim a massive victory here?
Challengers Chelsea put in, almost inarguably, their most complete performance under Enzo Maresca on Tuesday night, demolishing Barcelona 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. After the Catalan side squandered an early opportunity, an own goal opened the floodgates, with Barça then reduced to ten men on the cusp of half time too. After the break through, Estêvão Willian's stunning solo strike, followed by Liam Delap's close-range finish, given follow video review, secured a memorable 3-0 success. This propelled Chelsea up to seventh in the gigantic league phase table, leaving them on course for a top eight finish, with Atalanta, Pafos and Napoli their three remaining opponents.

Back in the Premier League, Maresca's team moved up to second last weekend, courtesy of a comfortable 2-0 victory over Burnley; Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernández on target at Turf Moor. This means the Blues have won three in a row as well as five of their last six, seemingly starting to click into gear at just the right time. Another victory here would move Chelsea to within just three points of the leaders, and would very much assert the Blues as bona fide title challengers.
On the other hand, a win for Arsenal would see them move nine points clear of their rivals from across the capital, which would represent quite the chasm, even at this early stage. Well, Mikel Arteta's side will certainly be full of confidence, currently unbeaten in 16 matches across all competitions, winning 14 of them, including demolishing a pretty hapless Tottenham 4-1 last Sunday. Eberechi Eze, against the side he rejected to join Arsenal in the summer, scoring a hat-trick, the first man to do so in a North London derby for either side since Alan Sunderland at White Hart Lane in 1978.

Then, on Wednesday, the Gunners claimed another mighty scalp, this time on the European stage, beating Bayern Munich, for so long their kryptonite, 3-1 in North London. Jurriën Timber broke the deadlock with a header from a corner, before second half goals from substitutes Noni Madueke and then Gabriel Martinelli, just eight minutes apart, sparked wild celebrations. Arteta's team are now the only side in Europe's top-tier tournament with maximum points to their name, thereby sat atop both the Premier League and Champions League table. So now, can the Gunners put serious distance between themselves and the chasing pack with a famous victory at Stamford Bridge?

Chelsea team news
Levi Colwill, Roméo Lavia and Dário Essugo remain sidelined, while talisman Cole Palmer has not been seen since 20 September at Old Trafford, first due to a groin injury and then because he stubbed his toe on a doorframe. Palmer has never played at the Emirates due to illness and a hamstring injury, seemingly set to miss out on a meeting with Arsenal again.

Elsewhere, Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana were the centre-backs chosen to start against Barcelona, but Tosin Adarabioyo could return here.
In attack, as a way to exploit Barça's Kamikaze high-line, Enzo Maresca went for a strikerless formation on Tuesday, with Alejandro Garnacho and Pedro Neto starting, but at least one of João Pedro or mid-week scorer Liam Delap, or perhaps both, are set to return here.
Chelsea predicted lineup vs Arsenal: (4-3-3): Sánchez; Gusto, Fofana, Adarabioyo, Cucurella; Caicedo, James, Fernández; Estêvão, Garnacho, João Pedro.
Chelsea player to watch vs Arsenal
Estêvão Willian put in a real coming of age performance in mid-week, spectacularly scoring his fifth goal for the club against Barcelona, so will the teenager star here too?
Arsenal team news
Leandro Trossard is a doubt, having hobbled off during the first half against Bayern Munich, the only blemish on an otherwise joyous night. Fellow attackers Viktor Gyökeres, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus remain sidelined, but Martin Ødegaard is back, enjoying a brief cameo on Wednesday.

Assuming Trossard is not good to go, one of Gabriel Martinelli or Noni Madueke will come in on the left-flank, after both were on target as substitutes against the Bundesliga champions.
Lastly, in defence, with Gabriel sidelined, Cristhian Mosquera and Myles Lewis-Skelly were rotated into the lineup in mid-week, with Piero Hincapié and Riccardo Calafiori expected to come back in.
Arsenal predicted lineup vs Chelsea: (4-3-3): Raya, Timber, Saliba, Hincapié, Calafiori; Zubimendi, Rice, Eze; Saka, Madueke, Merino.

Having departed Chelsea in the summer, Noni Madueke will surely be ultra-motivated to prove a point against his former club. So, after scoring his first goal for Arsenal to give the Gunners the lead against Bayern Munich, can he enamour himself to his new supporters even more with a goal here?
