Denmark are seeking back-to-back victories over Greece for the first time since 1996, while the Greeks have lost each of their last four visits to Copenhagen, dating back to a 1-0 win in 1980.

Denmark vs Greece preview

These two sides met in Piraeus just 34 days ago, a result that rather epitomises how this qualification campaign has gone for both. That night, it was Denmark who ran out 3-0 winners at Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium. Mikkel Damsgaard's superb strike broke the deadlock, before Andreas Christensen and then Rasmus Højlund both netted, so who will win this rematch at Parken?

At the mid-way point of this qualification campaign, Denmark sit top of Group C, determined to still be there come close of play on 18 November. On Thursday night, Brian Riemer's side demolished Belarus 6-0 in Zalaegerszeg, the match played behind-closed doors at ZTE Arena. Victor Froholdt broke the deadlock, Højlund bagged a brace, Patrick Dorgu added a fourth from close range and then Anders Dreyer came off the bench to score twice in 12 minutes in western Hungary.

This leaves Denmark top of the section, level on points with Scotland, who held them to a goalless draw in Copenhagen back on the opening matchday. Most would assume that de Rød-Hvide will beat Belarus at home next months, meaning the trip to Hampden in the final game is likely to prove decisive. So, will Denmark make sure they remain top of the group by claiming a win on Sunday night?

In contrast, Greece's hopes of a first major tournament appearance since Brazil 2014 are hanging by a thread. Ivan Jovanović's side did hammer Belarus 5-1 to commence the campaign, but have since suffered successive defeats. On Thursday night, they somehow left Glasgow empty handed, dominating for over an hour, deservedly taking the lead through Kostas Tsimikas. However, Scotland equalised moments later, before scoring twice late on to snatch a win that was daylight robbery.

Prior to the start of this campaign, Greece had won seven of their last ten competitive fixtures, most notably beating England at Wembley a year ago. Now though, defeat in Copenhagen, coupled with Scotland beating Belarus at Hampden earlier on Sunday, would see the Blue and Whites eliminated from World Cup contention with two matches still to play. Thus, there is so much to play for at Parken, so will Greece keep their hopes alive, or can Denmark rubber stamp a top two spot?

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel will win his 118th cap, now just 11 adrift his father Peter's tally. Mikkel Damsgaard, who broke the deadlock in Greece in September, will continue in midfield, deployed alongside teenager Victor Froholdt, who scored his first international goal in Zalaegerszeg.

Denmark predicted lineup vs Greece: (3-4-2-1): Schmeichel; Vestergaard, Christensen, Andersen; Kristensen, Hjulmand, Højbjerg, Dorgu; Damsgaard, Froholdt, Højlund.

Denmark player to watch vs Greece

Rasmus Højlund's double against Belarus takes his tally to 11 for Denmark, four of which have come in 2025, so will the Napoli man continue his scoring spree?

Greece team news

After Konstantinos Tzolakis' catastrophic error that gifted Scotland their third on Monday, it genuinely has to be seen to be believed, it'll be interesting to see if Odysseas Vlachodimos is restored in goal.

Meantime, Tasos Bakasetas will captain the team from midfield, while Christos Tzolis, who has already scored three times for Greece this calendar year, will be a danger man from the left-wing.

Greece predicted lineup vs Denmark: (4-3-3): Vlachodimos; Vagiannidis, Mavropanos, Koulierakis, Tsimikas; Kourbelis, Zafeiris, Masouras, Bakasetas, Tzolis; Pavlidis.

Greece player to watch vs Denmark

Vangelis Pavlidis scored both when Greece beat England 2-1 at Wembley a year ago, subsequently on target during home wins over Slovakia and Belarus. If his side are going to upset the odds in Copenhagen, the Benfica centre-forward will be their most-likely scorer.

Denmark vs Greece prediction

Based on what both have produced in this campaign to date, we are confidently backing Denmark for victory at Parken, one that secures, at least, a play-off place for the Red and Whites, while also confirming that Greece will not be World Cup-bound next summer: Denmark 2-0 Greece.
