Ukraine have only ever won one of 13 previous meetings with France, winless in six clashes on French soil, losing four of them.

France vs Ukraine preview

Can France rubber stamp their place at next summer's World Cup? Les Bleus began this qualification campaign with three successive win, including a 2-0 victory when they faced Ukraine in Wrocław in September. Thus, Didier Deschamps' side would have secured qualification with two matches to spare, had they won in Reykjavík last time out. However, despite quick-fire goals from Christopher Nkunku and then Jean-Philippe Mateta, they were held to a 2-2 draw by Iceland at Laugardalsvöllur, meaning there is still work to do.

Nevertheless, France still remain in a commanding position in Group D, three points clear at the top, while their final fixture on Sunday is against the section's whipping boys Azerbaijan in Baku. Les Bleus have qualified for each of the last seven World Cups, featuring in the last two finals, so can they rubber stamp their ticket to North America with victory at the Parc des Princes?

Ukraine meantime are also in with a shout of being at next summer's World Cup, looking for a result in Paris to help their cause. Last month, Serhiy Rebrov's side crucially claimed back-to-back victories, first defeating Iceland 5-3 in a thriller at Laugardalsvöllur, thanks to late goals from Ivan Kalyuzhnyi and then Oleh Ocheretko. Three days later, Ruslan Malinovskyi was the match-winner when Azerbaijan visited Kraków, that finishing 2-1.

So, Ukraine sit second in Group D, three points ahead of Iceland. Assuming Iceland win in Baku on Thursday, the pair would go head-to-head for a place in the play-offs in Warsaw on Sunday evening. As an independent nation, Ukraine's sole World Cup appearance came in 2006 and, given the ongoing Russian invasion, they would love to be proudly flying their flag in North America next summer. Here though, anything other than a France victory would be a surprise at Parc des Princes.

France vs Ukraine head-to-head record
