Fulham are unbeaten in three meetings with Sunderland, their longest sequence since 2012, but the Black Cats have lost only one of their last five visits to Craven Cottage, winning three of them.

Fulham vs Sunderland preview

Can Sunderland continue their near-flawless start to the season? Last time out, the Black Cats held league-leaders Arsenal to a 2-2 draw at a raucous Stadium of Light. Dan Ballard broke the deadlock, only for the Gunners to turn the game around and lead 2-1 on Wearside. Nevertheless, there was still plenty of drama to come in stoppage time, with Brian Brobbey acrobatically equalising in the 94th minute, before Ballard pulled off a remarkable goal line clearance at the death to preserve a point.

This result means, after 11 games, Régis Le Bris' side are in the Champions League places, having only lost twice to date, beaten at Turf Moor and Old Trafford. Last month, Sunderland enjoyed their most famous victory of the campaign so far, beating Chelsea 2-1, courtesy of Chemsdine Talbi's injury time winner. This weekend, just 1.6 miles across the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, will the Mackems be celebrating another victory on the banks of the River Thames?

Well, in a reversal of pre-season expectations perhaps, hosts Fulham really need a win to pull away from the relegation zone. Prior to the international break, the Cottagers were beaten again, this time defeated 2-0 by Everton at Bramley-Moore Dock, a fourth successive loss on the road.

Overall, Marco Silva's side have now lost five of their last six, all three of their victories coming at home, managing to beat Leeds, Brentford and rock-bottom Wolves. After this one, Fulham's next three opponents are Tottenham, Manchester City and Crystal Palace, which certainly won't be easy, making it a concern that the Whites sit 15th, just one point clear of the relegation zone. So, can the Cottagers claim a vital victory, or will Sunderland's dream season continue?

Fulham team news

With morale already low, Fulham supporters' mood only worsened during the international break following news that striker Rodrigo Muniz has required surgery on a hamstring injury exacerbated in defeat at Everton, so will be out until January at the earliest.

Elsewhere, Antonee Robinson remains a doubt due to a knee injury, which saw him not involved in the USA's two friendlies this week, while Saša Lukić is suspended, having been shown his fifth yellow card of the campaign at Everton. So, youngster Josh King is expected to come back into the lineup.

Fulham predicted lineup vs Sunderland: (4-3-3): Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Sessegnon; Berge, King, Wilson, Iwobi, Kevin; Jiménez.

Fulham player to watch vs Sunderland

Raúl Jiménez has just the one Premier League goals to his name this season, on target at Villa Park, and with Muniz sidelined long-term, they'll need the Mexican to get back to his best.

Sunderland team news

Régis Le Bris switched to a back five against Arsenal a fortnight ago, Lutsharel Geertruida coming into the defence, but is likely to go with a more attacking lineup this time.

This'll see Chemsdine Talbi return to the front three while, despite his heroics off the bench against both Chelsea and Arsenal, Brian Brobbey could once again be used as a super sub. Midfield duo Granit Xhaka and Noah Sadiki would both miss next weekend's clash with Bournemouth if carded.

Sunderland predicted lineup vs Fulham: (4-3-3): Roefs; Hume, Mukiele, Ballard, Reinildo; Xhaka, Le Fée, Sadiki; Traoré, Talbi, Isidor.

Sunderland player to watch vs Fulham

Wilson Isidor is Sunderland's top-scorer this season with four, bagging the equaliser at Stamford Bridge, so will he be the hero again in West London?

Fulham vs Sunderland prediction

We are backing Sunderland for victory at Craven Cottage. The Black Cats are in much better form, so we're forecasting another miserable afternoon for the Fulham faithful: Fulham 1-2 Sunderland.
