Houston Dynamo defeated FC Dallas 2-0 at Toyota Stadium in MLS regular season, and it did more than just earn three points. The team ended a 13-year road winless streak in the Texas Derby and earned its first away win of 2025.
With goals from Jack McGlynn and Griffin Dorsey, and solid defense by goalkeeper Jonathan Bond, Dynamo dominated convincingly, confidently, and effectively in the adversary's lair.
First half was tight with opportunities squandered
The match started nervously, with the two teams struggling to gain the upper hand in the midfield. Houston came within inches of scoring in the 21st minute. McGlynn floated a corner to the near post, and Brooklyn Raines was the first to arrive, but a Dallas defender deflected it just above the bar at the very last moment.
The home team responded soon after. Anderson Julio shot from the box in the 38th minute, forcing Jonathan Bond to sprint back to his line and divert the ball over the crossbar with the tips of his fingers. The Dynamo keeper came forward once again shortly after to block a powerful shot by Shaq Moore. Prior to the interval, Amine Bassi also probed Collodi with a well-struck left-wing angle shot, which forced a rapid reaction save.
The first half was goalless but was not lacking in intensity. Bond was the standout, keeping Houston in the game in important moments. His composed demeanor between the sticks already suggested that something new would happen that evening.

McGlynn gets the opener with a long-range rocket
After the break, Dynamo had more edge. In the 63rd minute, Bond was again tested when he cleared a shot by Luciano Acosta. One minute later, the breakthrough had finally arrived and it was a beauty to watch.
Griffin Dorsey outran a defender along the right and played McGlynn into space on the outside of the box. The 21-year-old U.S. national team midfielder wasted little time. He shifted his body and hit a left-footed shot that sailed into the corner with no chance for the keeper. It was his second goal of the year and one of those plays that turns the tone of a game.
The target also represented Dorsey's fifth assist of the season, a testament to his good form in creating scoring opportunities. Once they took the lead, Dynamo dictated the tempo of the game. Even without dropping deep into midfield, they remained solid and closed down Dallas' efforts to retaliate.
Dorsey seals it with a stellar team goal
Houston wasn't content with a small margin. Dorsey returned in the 81st minute, this time to score. He created the play himself, beating down the channel and passing to Toyosi Olusanya before receiving the pass back in a good position. Calm as ever, he beat the keeper at the near post to slot it into the bottom left corner.
It was Dorsey's first of the year and the winner for Dynamo in their historic win at Frisco. The club had not scored two goals at Toyota Stadium since 2012 and had not won there since 2011. Nearly an entire generation of fans had watched the club fall short time and again on that pitch.
