LAFC defeated Seattle Sounders 4-0 at BMO Stadium, taking their regular season Major League Soccer unbeaten streak to six games. The win gave the team 21 points, placed them fifth in the Western Conference, and reinforced their strong recent form.
The win was built on goals by Cengiz Ünder, Jeremy Ebobisse, Denis Bouanga, and Yaw Yeboah, and their home game remains a morale booster for the team.
LAFC have recorded three wins and three draws in the last six of their MLS games. They have five wins, one draw, and one loss at home in the league. Overall in all competitions, the club has eight wins, one draw, and one defeat at BMO Stadium. The win against Seattle also concluded the season series for the two teams, with each team winning once. On the two games, LAFC had the advantage in goal difference: 6-5.
Ünder scores the opener in the first half
LAFC had more attacking presence and managed to break the deadlock in the 26th minute. The play started with a corner that Seattle's defense cleared, but the ball fell to Cengiz Ünder on the bye line of the box. The midfielder shot with his left foot, the ball rebounded, and left goalkeeper Andrew Thomas with no choice. The goal provided the home team with some relief at halftime.
Ebobisse scores one and Bouanga scores again
Within six minutes of halftime, LAFC doubled the advantage through a quick play. Igor Jesus picked up the ball in the midfield after tackling Pedro de la Vega. De la Vega regained it quickly and was sent through by Ünder before releasing Jeremy Ebobisse. The striker bore down on the defender, overpowered him, and used the right foot from inside the corner of the net.
Denis Bouanga gave his name to the scoresheet in the 80th minute. It was his sixth of the season, all six in the last half-dozen. The striker was set through by David Martínez, strode into the box, cut inside, and fired with his right foot. The ball curled into the corner, out of the reach of Thomas.
Bouanga had not scored in the first six games of the season, but he's been picking up steam and regaining his form as the league's leading scorer.
Yaw Yeboah, who was substituted into the game in the 81st minute to replace Frankie Amaya, scored five minutes later. He was given a short ball by Olivier Giroud within the box, beat two defenders, and scored with his right foot, making the fourth score. The goal was Yeboah's first score in an LAFC uniform.
