Of UEFA's current 55 members, the Netherlands have faced 50 of them, but never Lithuania, but that will change at Darius and Girėnas Stadium on Sunday. In case you were wondering, Oranje still need to meet Azerbaijan, Kosovo and Lithuania to complete the set.

Lithuania vs Netherlands preview

After suffering their first set back of World Cup qualifying on Thursday, can Netherlands get back on track in Kaunas? In mid-week, Holland were held to an underwhelming 1-1 draw by Poland at De Kuip, taking an early lead through Denzel Dumfries, only to concede an equaliser with ten minutes to play in Rotterdam. This ended the Oranje's perfect start to qualification, having overcome Finland 2-0 in Helsinki and then demolished Malta 8-0 in Groningen back in June.

These dropped points means the top three in Group G all have seven points on the board, with Poland and Finland facing each other at Stadion Śląski later on Sunday. Since missing out on Euro 2016 and World Cup 2018, Holland have won 24 of 33 qualifiers, only suffering defeats against France, Türkiye and Germany during this period, so should cruise to victory at Darius and Girėnas Stadium.

As for Lithuania, since losing their group opener 1-0 to Poland in Warsaw, they're actually unbeaten. First, the Rinktinė fought back from 2-0 down to draw with Finland in Kaunas, before back-to-back stalemates with Malta. Their meeting in Ta' Qali in June ended goalless, but Thursday's clash was rather more dramatic, with Gvidas Gineitis' 97th minute spot-kick pinching a point at the death.

Despite this sequence of draws, Lithuania are now winless in 12 matches, claiming victory in just two of their last 35 qualifiers, only mustering a pair of victories over Bulgaria since October 2016. So, anything other than a routine Dutch victory in Kaunas would be a huge surprise.

Elsewhere, Tomas Kalinauskas of Burton Albion will be hoping to add to his five caps, while top scorer Fedor Černych, who has 100 caps to his name, was an unused substitute against Malta.

Lithuania predicted lineup vs Netherlands: (4-2-3-1): Gertmonas; Upstas, Girdvainis, Lekiatas, Tutyškinas; Sirgėdas, Vorobjovas, Jankauskas, Gineitis, Lekiatas; Paulauskas.

Gytis Paulauskas will lead the Lithuanian attack; he scored against both Montenegro and Serbia during Euros qualifying, so can he get off the mark in this campaign?

Netherlands team news

Ronald Koeman is unlikely to change too much despite the quick turnaround following Thursday's draw with Poland. Jan Paul van Hecke has recently established himself as Virgil van Dijk's first-choice partner and, despite going off late in mid-week is set to keep his place at centre-back.

Elsewhere, only really the right-wing spot is up for grabs, with Spurs' new signing Xavi Simons getting the nod at De Kuip, chosen over Justin Kluivert and others.

Netherlands predicted lineup vs Lithuania: (4-3-3): Verbruggen; Dumfries, van Dijk, van Hecke, van de Ven; Gravenberch, de Jong, Reijnders; Simons, Gakpo, Memphis.

Netherlands player to watch vs Lithuania

Memphis' tally of 50 international goals means he is currently the Netherlands' all-time leading scorer, alongside Robin van Persie. Of these goals, 18 have come in World Cup qualifiers, so could Darius and Girėnas Stadium be the venue at which he breaks the record?

Lithuania vs Netherlands prediction

We are forecasting a very comfortable Netherlands victory in Kaunas, set to swat aside a very poor Lithuania team on Sunday in the early evening: Lithuania 0-4 Netherlands.
