Brentford are currently unbeaten in three meetings with Wolves, their longest such streak since 1986, with the Bees actually winning six of their last 11 league visits to Molineux.
Wolves vs Brentford preview
After coming agonisingly close to a famous result last weekend, can Wolverhampton Wanderers finally claim that illusive first win of the season? Last Saturday night, it was top against bottom in North London, with everyone forecasting a routine Arsenal victory. However, it required a fluke own goal from Sam Johnstone to see the Gunners break the deadlock in the 70th minute and then, in the final minute of the 90, Mateus Mané's cross was turned home by Tolu Arokodare, sparking wild scenes in the away end. However, that joy was short lived because, in the 94th minute, a second own goal of the night, this time thwacking Yerson Mosquera, saw Arsenal somehow snatch victory.

This goal condemned Wolves to a ninth consecutive league defeat, smashing the previous club record of seven, set in 1964, 1985 and 2012. With only two points on the board, Rob Edwards' side are now 14 from safety, more concerned about potentially breaking Derby's record of 11 point record set in 07/08. After this, Wolves' next two fixtures are at Anfield and then Old Trafford, Merry Christmas to their supporters, so this is surely their best chance of claiming a win before 2026 begins.
Brentford meantime arrive in the Black Country with one of the worst away records in the division, perhaps providing the home supporters with some hope. On Wednesday night, Keith Andrews' side were dumped out of the Carabao Cup at the Etihad, pretty much held at arms length by Manchester City. Back in the Premier League, the Bees have lost seven of eight away matches thus far, including each of the last four, the sole exceptions a 2-0 win at West Ham back in mid-October.

Andrews' team are rather being propped up by their home form, winning five of eight outings in front of their own supporters, albeit even there they could only draw 1-1 with Leeds last Sunday, despite taking the lead through Jordan Henderson. So, given the Bees' porous form on the road, as well as their very busy week, Wolves may not get a better change than this to claim that illusive victory.

Wolves team news
Emmanuel Agbadou and Tawanda Chirewa have both departed for the Africa Cup of Nations, but right-back Jackson Tchatchoua was not called up by Cameroon, while last weekend's scorer Tolu Arokodare did not make the cut for Nigeria.

Marshall Munetsi would have got away with Zimbabwe but is injured, as his fellow midfielder Jean‐Ricner Bellegarde and Rodrigo Gomes.
Own goal scorer at Arsenal Yerson Mosquera is suspended, having picked up his fifth yellow card, so either Santiago Bueno or Ladislav Krejčí will come into Rob Edwards' back five. Matt Doherty and André would sit out next weekend's trip to Anfield if cautioned.
Wolverhampton Wanderers predicted lineup vs Brentford: (5-2-3): Johnstone; Tchatchoua, Krejčí, S Bueno, Toti, Møller Wolfe; André, João Gomes; Hwang Hee-chan, Arokodare, Strand Larsen.
Wolves player to watch vs Brentford
Tolu Arokodare bagged his third goal for Wolves, and first in the Premier League, last weekend, but having scored 23 times in the Jupiler Pro League for Genk last season, he could turn out to be a shrewd addition.
Brentford team news
Frank Onyeka and Dango Ouattara are Brentford's AFCON representatives, while Antoni Milambo and Fábio Carvalho are sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Meantime, neither key midfielder Jordan Henderson nor top-scorer Igor Thiago featured in the EFL Cup on Wednesday, but there is optimism that both will be back in time for this one.

Nathan Collins, set to come up against his former side, is one yellow card away from suspension.
Brentford predicted lineup vs Wolverhampton Wanderers: (4-3-3): Kelleher; Kayode, Collins, van den Berg, Hickey; Henderson, Yarmoliuk, Damsgaard; Schade, Lewis-Potter, Thiago.
Brentford player to watch vs Wolves
With Ouattara on international duty and Thiago a doubt, the goal-scoring onus may be on Kevin Schade, with the German having netted three times so far this season, seeking to score against Wolves for the first time.
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Brentford prediction
We are being bold here and forecasting a major upset at Molineux by backing Wolves to pick up their very first victory of the season, due to Brentford's miserable away form: Wolves 1-0 Brentford.
