The finalists for MLS Goal of the Year were announced today. It’s that time of year in MLS again where the awards start to get handed out in what seems like bunches, and we try to keep up with it all. The four finalists for MLS Goal of the Year are Will Johnson (vs. Vancouver), Lee Nguyen (vs. Houston), Obafemi Martins (vs. San Jose) and Thierry Henry (vs. Sporting KC).

Since the end of October, fans have voted on the top 64 goals from MLS this season and week by week, narrowed down the list to the four finalists announced today. While all the goals are top notch goals, worthy of winning the award, only one can and will win it. There is a different range of goals this year as well. From a long distance shot, to a trick like shot, to amazing build up play as well as simple but excellent finishing.

I want to take a look at these four goals and analyze them and give my take on why each one of them could win goal of the year. There is no denying that these goals required skill and great finishing ability, but only one of them can win the award.

All four of these goals have a unique quality about them that made them stand out throughout this tournament style competition. Which one will stand out the most to the fans, though. That is what matters and we will find that out shortly after voting closes at 11:59 November 26th.

After clicking through and watching these goals, let us know who you think should win goal of the year and be sure to officially cast your vote here.
