5. Mousa Dembele

When Mousa Dembele is fit and firing he can be one of the most productive midfielders in Europe. You may wonder why, given that fact, he still finds his name on this list. The unfortunate truth is that Dembele’s fitness struggles have caused him to become an overrated player.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Part of being a valuable member of the squad is being available to play on a regular basis. There are real questions whether or not Dembele can do that moving forward. Both he and Pochettino have recently admitted that he likely won’t ever be 100% again.

That’s a very troubling admission for a 30-year-old midfielder. The sad truth is that Pochettino would be wise to search for a Dembele replacement sooner rather than later. Expecting more than periodic periods of fitness from him at this stage of his career is risky at best.

The reality of Mousa Dembele just doesn’t measure up to the legend anymore. Per Whoscored.com he’s only the club’s 10th highest rated player on the season. That level of performance combined with his limited health makes him marginally overrated by Spurs fans.
