Tanguy Ndombele

Ndombele only joined Lyon on a permanent transfer at the start of last season but is already being linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs. The Frenchman was his side’s standout player in his debut campaign and his performances, especially in the Champions League against Manchester City, saw the world take notice.

Ndombele is physically imposing, pacy and creative like Pogba, but is much more disciplined defensively than his compatriot. United not only need a replacement for Paul Pogba, but signing a defensive midfielder should also be a priority. And Ndombele is more than capable of playing both roles. He likes to dictate play from midfield and create chances for his teammates, but also looks very much at home, when tasked with a more industrious, deeper role.

His defensive prowess, combined with his ability and technique going forward makes him the ideal midfielder for the Red Devils.

His commanding performances in midfield have seen him earn comparisons with Patrick Vieira. The combative nature of his play, his incredible vision and his ability to drive forward with the ball at his feet makes him the ideal all action midfielder United are so dearly missing at the moment.

Ndombele certainly won’t come cheap and Lyon will be determined to get the highest fee possible for their prized asset. But Ndombele is still only 22 and has all the attributes to become one of the best midfielders in the world. Ndombele has an incredible future ahead of him, and if he agrees to join Manchester United, signing him should be a no brainer for the Old Trafford club.
