Arsenal beat Inter Milan 3–1 at the Giuseppe Meazza and left Italy with something bigger than three points. The English side kept its perfect record in the Champions League, reached 21 points after seven matches and secured direct qualification for the round of 16 with a game to spare. Away from home, in one of Europe’s most traditional stadiums, the team took care of business early and never lost control of the situation.

Seven games, seven wins and a record

Gabriel Jesus was the story of the first half. He scored twice and put Arsenal in a comfortable position before the break. Inter tried to respond through a goal by Sucic, but that was as far as it went. On top of that, the Brazilian found the net again in the Champions League for the first time since 2023.

In the second half, Arsenal managed the game and knew when to finish it off. Gyökeres’ introduction proved decisive. The forward came off the bench to score the third goal late on, ending any real chance of an Italian comeback.

Arsenal’s Champions League campaign stands out for its consistency. The team has scored 20 goals and conceded just two, with five clean sheets along the way. With 21 points, only Bayern Munich can still match the English side’s total at this stage. Even so, direct qualification is already locked up, with no need for scenarios or a final-day push. On top of that, seven wins from seven matches mark the longest winning streak in the club’s history in the competition.

Milan, a broken taboo and clear signs of consistency

Beating Inter at the Giuseppe Meazza also puts an end to a long-standing frustration. Arsenal hadn’t beaten an Italian opponent away from home in the Champions League since 2008. That stretch included five straight visits to Italy without a win, a run in which the team hadn’t even managed to score. This time, Arsenal stepped onto the field without carrying that weight.

The result also underlines a recent negative trend for Inter. The Italian club has now suffered its third home defeat in the last four Champions League matches against English teams, the same number of losses it had across the previous ten home games against opponents from England.

On top of that, the win in Milan puts Arsenal in rare company. The club became the first from England’s top flight to win away from home, in the same month, across four different competitions, the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup and the Champions League.
