Inter Milan and Arsenal meet at the San Siro in a matchup that brings together the Champions League league-phase leaders and one of the most consistent teams in Italian soccer this season. Arsenal arrive with a perfect record after six rounds, while Inter sit sixth overall with four wins and two losses.

With a win, Arsenal would post the longest winning streak in their Champions League history, reaching seven straight victories. Inter, meanwhile, are looking to avoid a third consecutive defeat in the competition, something that hasn’t happened since 2011.

Inter carry domestic momentum into the clash

Inter began their Champions League campaign in solid fashion, winning their first four matches and conceding just one goal during that stretch. Recent losses to Liverpool and Atlético de Madrid halted that run and kept the club from staying among the top sides. Even so, the team remains in a qualifying position and controls its own path toward advancing to the next stage.

Outside of Europe, Inter are in a positive stretch. The team leads Serie A with 49 points from 21 matches and hasn’t lost in eight straight games with the ball in play. Their most recent wins were narrow 1–0 victories over Udinese and Lecce, results that kept them at the top of the table. The only setback in that span came in the Italian Super Cup semifinals, where they were eliminated by Bologna on penalties after a draw in regulation.

At the San Siro, Inter have generally posted strong numbers in European competition, although their recent record against English clubs has become less favorable. Their two most recent home losses to teams from England both came against Liverpool in recent Champions League editions, matching the total number of defeats they had suffered in the previous ten home games combined.

Arsenal maintain a perfect Champions League run

Arsenal head to Milan as the clear leaders of the league phase and the only club with six wins from six matches. The team has scored 17 goals and conceded just one, keeping five clean sheets along the way. Their most recent victory came on the road, a 3–0 win over Club Brugge that cemented their place at the top of the standings.

On the domestic front, the Gunners also sit atop the Premier League, even after being held to a scoreless draw by Nottingham Forest last weekend. Still, the club is unbeaten in 11 matches across all competitions this season, with eight wins and three draws since their loss to Aston Villa in December.
