These two clubs met for the very first time in August's UEFA Super Cup. Spurs raced into a 2-0 lead in Udine, very much with one hand on the cup at that stage, only for PSG to score twice in the final five minutes, before prevailing in the subsequent penalty shootout.
Paris Saint-Germain are targeting a third successive home win over English opposition; Tottenham have only ever won one of eight visits to France.
PSG vs Tottenham preview
After a pitiful performance in Sunday's North London derby, the 2,000 Tottenham Hotspur supporters traveling to Paris this week could be forgiven for fearing the worst. At the weekend, Spurs were dominated from start to finish by Arsenal, smashed 4-1, mustering a miserly xG of just 0.07, with Richarlison's spectacular long-range lob scant consolation. The Lilywhites are now winless in three, beating only Leeds and Everton across their last eight league matches, sliding down to ninth.

Meantime, in the Champions League, Thomas Frank's team do remain unbeaten, but they've been far from convincing. After a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Villarreal, Spurs have drawn with both Bodø/Glimt and Monaco on the road, albeit extremely lucky to leave both the Arctic Circle and the Principality with anything to show for their efforts. Earlier this month, Tottenham did demolish København 4-0 at home, Micky van de Ven with an extra ordinary solo goal, but to say the difficulty level will exponentially increase here would be an understatement. So, can Spurs spark their season into life with a win in the city of love?
As for Paris Saint-Germain, they are only one point above their visitors in the gigantic table after seeing their perfect record in the league phase come to an end. Luis Enrique's team began their title defence with victories over Atalanta at home, Barcelona at Montjuïc and then Leverkusen at the BayArena, scoring 13 goals. However, three weeks ago, PSG were beaten 2-1 by Bayern Munich at Parc des Princes. The Rekordmeister raced into an early 2-0 lead, before Luis Díaz was sent off for a horror tackle on Achraf Hakimi, with João Neves' header coming too late to spark a comeback.

Meantime, here is something of a novelty, is there a title race in France this season? On Saturday, les Rouge-et-Bleu smashed Le Havre 3-0; Lee Kang-in, Neves and Bradley Barcola scoring. Now unbeaten in eight Ligue 1 games, winning three on the spin, les Parisiens are of course top, but both Marseille and Lens are only two points behind, for now at least. In this clash on Wednesday night, PSG have to be firm favourites to prevail when out of sorts Spurs visit the Parc des Princes.

PSG team news
Achraf Hakimi is sidelined due to the aforementioned ankle injury suffered against Bayern Munich, while star attackers Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué are also injured.
With no obvious Hakimi deputy, Luis Enrique is likely to once again deploy teenaged midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery at right-back, albeit centre-back Illya Zabarnyi is also an option, having served a suspension on matchday three.

Marquinhos, Fabián Ruiz, Bradley Barcola and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will all return, having been rested against Le Havre at the weekend.
Paris Saint-Germain predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-3-3): Chevalier; Zaïre-Emery, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; João Neves, Vitinha, Fábian; Barcola, Kvaratskhelia, Ramos.
PSG player to watch vs Tottenham
As well as controlling midfield, João Neves has now scored six goals this season, including an astonishing hat-trick at Toulouse in August, and a stoppage time winner at Olympique Lyonnais earlier this month, so he'll be PSG's main man in this one.
Tottenham team news
Thomas Frank remains without Radu Drăgușin, Kōta Taka, Ben Davies, Yves Bissouma, James Maddison, Dejan Kuluševski and Dominic Solanke due to injury, while Brennan Johnson is suspended, having been sent off against København.
He deployed a rather defensive back five at Arsenal on Sunday, a blueprint that worked for 85 minutes of August's UEFA Super Cup against PSG, so it'll be fascinating to see what Frank does here.

In attack, Randal Kolo Muani is eligible to face his parent club, albeit Mathys Tel can't play as he's not in the UEFA squad, while Xavi Simons will be hoping to start against his former club.
Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Paris Saint-Germain: (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, van de Ven, Romero, Spence; Palhinha, Bentancur, Matar Sarr; Kudus, Simons, Richarlsion.
Tottenham player to watch vs PSG
Guglielmo Vicario was man of the match when Tottenham visited Monaco in their last Champions League away game, making eight saves, and he'll need to be at his best in Paris too.
PSG vs Tottenham prediction
We cannot see beyond a routine PSG victory on Wednesday night, likely to swat Spurs aside, even though Luis Enrique's side are missing some key figures: Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 Tottenham.
