1. DANNY ROSE – Left Back (Tottenham Hotspur)

Rose has just arrived back in England after a turbulent and exciting summer at the World Cup in Russia with the Three Lions.

He only played a bit-part role for Gareth Southgate’s team, as Ashley Young was preferred at left-back, but he did come on as a substitute in extra time against Croatia in the semi-finals.

The 28-year-old joined Tottenham in his first senior level role back in 2007 and spent several years out on loan before finally breaking into the first team in 2013.

From then on his career has gone from strength to strength, having since fully established himself as one of the best full-back’s in the league and becoming a part of the England set-up at international level.

Despite suffering a serious knee injury halfway through Spur’s 2016/17 campaign, which kept him out for 9 months, Rose managed to bounce back and have a positive effect on the team the following season.

Manchester United’s need for defensive reinforcements – particularly in the fullback positions -has been identified by Mourinho and addressed in the form of new signing Diego Dalot, who can provide cover on the right.

On the left, however, Ashley Young is first choice, who at 33 years of age is approaching the twilight of his career.

Luke Shaw is also an option in the same position, but his struggles since joining the club in 2014 have been well documented and his future remains unclear.

Danny Rose would be a fantastic addition to the squad and a known quantity. He has had his fitness issues in the past but has been one of Tottenham’s most consistent performers whenever he’s had a run in manager Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI.

Fantastic going forward with pace to burn and stamina in spades – Rose would certainly solve United’s problems on the left and strengthen the team’s backline as a collective.
